Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Movers Hammersmith in respect of its financial year and sets out the steps we are taking to identify, prevent, and address modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. Movers Hammersmith is committed to conducting business ethically, transparently and with integrity, and recognises its responsibility to uphold and promote the rights and dignity of every person involved in delivering our services.
Our Organisation and Supply Chains
Movers Hammersmith operates in the removals and associated services sector. Our activities require engagement with a range of suppliers, including providers of vehicles, fuel, packing materials, storage facilities, maintenance contractors, and labour agencies. We understand that the risk of modern slavery can arise at multiple points across these supply chains, particularly where subcontracted labour or outsourced services are involved. We therefore apply a robust and consistent approach to supplier selection, monitoring and review.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
Movers Hammersmith adopts a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced or compulsory labour, and child labour. We will not knowingly conduct business with any organisation or individual involved in such practices. This commitment applies to all levels of our business, including directors, employees, contractors, agency workers, and suppliers. Any suspected breach of this policy will be treated as a serious matter and may result in termination of contracts or other appropriate action. We expect all third parties working with us to share and uphold these standards.
Policies and Governance
Our zero-tolerance stance is supported by internal policies on ethical conduct, recruitment, and health and safety. These policies emphasise fair treatment, transparent employment terms, and compliance with all applicable labour laws. Senior management has overall responsibility for ensuring that these policies remain effective and are communicated clearly across the organisation. Managers at all levels are responsible for implementing this Statement within their teams and ensuring that any concerns are escalated promptly.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
Movers Hammersmith is committed to working only with suppliers who uphold standards consistent with our own. As part of our supplier due diligence, we assess the risk of modern slavery based on sector, geography, and the nature of services provided. Where appropriate, we conduct audits or request evidence of compliance, such as written confirmations of labour standards, details of recruitment practices, and proof of right-to-work checks. We reserve the right to visit supplier premises or to require independent verification where risk indicators are identified. Should an audit or assessment reveal non-compliance, we will work with the supplier on corrective actions or, if necessary, end the relationship.
Training and Awareness
We recognise that effective prevention of modern slavery depends on awareness and vigilance. Movers Hammersmith provides relevant personnel with information and guidance on recognising signs of exploitation, including deceptive recruitment, withholding of identity documents, unreasonable deductions from wages, and restrictions on freedom of movement. Employees are reminded that any concern, however small it may appear, should be reported and will be taken seriously.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
All employees, workers, and suppliers are encouraged to report any suspicion of modern slavery or human trafficking connected to Movers Hammersmith or its supply chains. Concerns can be raised with a line manager or directly to senior management. Reports may be made confidentially, and no person will suffer victimisation or retaliation for raising a concern in good faith. We commit to investigating all credible reports promptly and to taking appropriate remedial or disciplinary action where wrongdoing is identified. We also encourage suppliers to maintain their own reporting mechanisms and to notify us immediately of any incidents or risks identified in their operations.
Monitoring, Measurement and Annual Review
Movers Hammersmith recognises that combating modern slavery is an ongoing process requiring continuous improvement. We monitor our progress through regular review of supplier assessments, audit findings, and any reported incidents. Lessons learned are used to strengthen our procedures and guidance. This Statement will be reviewed at least annually by senior management to ensure it remains current, effective, and aligned with evolving legal requirements and best practice. Where necessary, we will update our policies and processes and communicate any significant changes to employees and suppliers.
This Statement has been approved by the leadership of Movers Hammersmith, who affirm their commitment to its implementation and to the ongoing protection of human rights across our business and supply chains.
